Half-truth or no truth:time to check!

Half-truth or no truth:time to check!

In the above mentioned case, the transfer of inaccurate information was evaded only because I was exposed to sound and diverse education systems which aided me to question the available knowledge and discern the source of it. Unfortunately, this is not the case for most of the social media users. Social media has created a whole new way of learning and millions are aware of the danger in being indoctrinated through self-made, self-interpreted and information that is not true.
Without any doubt, I always believe that ' knowledge is power' but at the current state in which multitudes source of information had shifted from papers, television, books and classrooms to twitter, Facebook, google, Instagram and Watsapp it is quite questionable. The pace of social media cannot be stopped nor it is possible to restrict the information that is produced but we can ensure that we equip our younger generation to discern what is right and what is not.
In the context of India, it is quite alarming to the see the trend, the rapid growth in smartphone users and the internet users have also increased after telecom industries provide internet either at throwaway prices or absolutely free. I doubt if the multitudes will read a book or an article given the geography of India and the availability of libraries or system of education. Instead, most of them are so much influenced by irrelevant information thorough the mainstream social media.
The best intervention one can look up is sound education system that ensures transmission of accurate information and educate the younger generation to question the information that they read. In addition, in the context of India, it has to start from the school because they are the ones who are now exposed to this information and the common belief of whatever is shared on Facebook and Wikipedia can be acceptable has to be worked upon. This will pave way for a wiser future for societies so that internet users will discern information that will build the society and not create chaos in the society. Reformation in education alone can bring about a strong and sound minded society where their minds will not be influenced by doctrines that tend to disrupt societies. (End)
